Finding A Great Optician

About Me

Finding A Great Optician

About a year ago, I realized that there were some problems with my vision. I couldn't seem to see that well at work, and I always felt like I was straining my vision when I watched television. I decided to get help, because it was starting to affect my job. I started looking for a great optician, and I was able to find an incredible place that really worked hard to make sure that people were comfortable. After I had my vision appointment and started wearing glasses, I could see a lot better and it felt great. This blog is all about finding an excellent optician--no matter where you live.

2 Ways You Can Keep Your Eyes Healthy

It is important to take care of your body, such as eating the right foods and exercising. It is just as important, however, that you keep your eyes healthy. This can help improve your vision or to prevent future problems with your eyes. You can do this in many ways, two of which are listed below.

Take Eye Care Supplements

Your body needs certain nutrients to keep your eyes healthy. Eye care supplements can give you what your eyes need so you will not have to worry about taking time to cook the right foods. These supplements are especially helpful if you currently eat unhealthy, such as running to the nearest fast food restaurant often.

These supplements have things like vitamin A, C, E, and zinc that are combined in the eye vitamins. Environmental pollution can affect your eyes and your body may not be able to eliminate toxins that can damage your eyes. Antioxidants are commonly included in eye care supplements which protects the cells in your eyes from these toxins. These antioxidants can also protect your eyes from molecules that are associated with aging.

You can find eye supplements online or you can find them at most stores that sell vitamins.

Eat Healthy

There are many foods that you can eat to help keep your eyes healthy. For example, dark, leafy greens contain zeaxanthin and lutein carotenoids, which aid in eye health. Other foods that can include these carotenoids are Brussel sprouts, broccoli, collard greens, and Swiss chard.  Egg yolks are also a good source of these carotenoids.

Zeaxanthin and lutein filter harmful SUV light from getting into your eyes, which protects the healthy cells in your eyes. This can help prevent age-related eye diseases such as cataracts and macular degeneration.

Salmon is rich in omega-3s, which can support the cell membranes in your eyes and protect your eye's retina. Eating salmon may also slow down macular degeneration if you are already suffering from this eye disease.

The bilberry, which is related to the blueberry, is also good to help with eye health. These berries have high amounts of anthocyanins, which provide electrons to your eyes to free radicals and prevent them from oxidizing on your eyes.

To learn much more about your eye health, you should see your eye doctor. They can give you much more information and getting your eyes checked regularly will help prevent diseases and eye problems from happening.
